Encore Studio for the Performing Arts Awarded $200,000 Grant from Ruth Foundation for the Arts

Encore Studio for the Performing Arts is proud to announce it has been awarded a two-year, $200,000 grant from the Ruth Foundation for the Arts in support of a major preservation and legacy project.

Securing a Legacy: Encore’s 25 Years of Original, Dynamic Theatre for People with Disabilities, was selected for a @ruthfoundationforthearts Wisconsin Special Project Grant!

Ten projects were selected by a national jury for their emphasis on public knowledge sharing and uplifting historically underrepresented communities, their commitment to equitable partnerships, and for encouraging creative change in the region.

Based in Wisconsin and national in scope, the Ruth Foundation for the Arts (Ruth Arts) is dedicated to meeting the evolving needs and lived experiences of artists, communities, and arts organizations whose work is anchored in visual arts, performing arts, and arts education.

This funding will support Encore’s efforts to preserve and share its unique body of work, developed over 25 years of original, disability-led theatre. The project will include a digital archive, a published book of selected scripts, and recordings of past productions—ensuring that Encore’s stories and impact continue to reach new generations of audiences, artists, and educators.
