Acts To Grind V
Oct 5-20, 2012 (select dates)

"Encore's 5th installment of Acts to Grind - our annual series of short plays."

Encore presents the 5th installment of an audience favorite, Acts to Grind. Acts to Grind V is a series of short plays, featuring 20 talented actors playing multiple roles. This year the repertory company explores the many dynamics of creating a character; the golden age of silent cinema and evaluates depression, schizophrenia… and Winnie the Pooh. The titles of the new offerings include: Fresh and Clean, Birth of the Blues, The Band Played On, and Dancing Worm. Encore brings back two shorts from previous Encore productions as well. 9-1-1 and Its Many Uses, is a short that creatively incorporates multi-media – blending live-action and film. Putting Out Fires, a musical short based on a true story. Last season’s Acts to Grind IV opened to exuberant audiences and rave reviews “The company's portrayals of painful and private moments are electric, and the adult humor throughout the program, whether lighthearted or dark, is irresistible.” --Amanda Rigell Isthmus (The Daily Page). While Encore has focused on the world of those with disabilities in past shows, Acts To Grind V broaches subjects intrinsic to all; our emotions, beliefs, needs, and the best natural cleaning agents.
