Executive Director KelsyAnne Schoenhaar announced today that Encore Studio for the Performing Arts begins its 12th season, performing at the Mary Dupont Wahlers Theatre, 1480 Martin St. Madison, WI.

Acts to Grind IV (September 23rd-October 8th) is a series of new, original shorts written by KelsyAnne Schoenhaar (and other community playwrights).  Come with us as we journey through a surreal funeral, visit a convent like no other and listen in on a conversation about anxiety.  And… that’s just the beginning!  Sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, Acts to Grind IV will have you talking! Opening on Friday September 23rd and running until Saturday October 8th, join us in kick starting Encore’s 12th season with 3 weekends of an annual favorite!

You Name It (January 5th-January 14th) is an original rock musical written by Schoenhaar and produced in 2005.  Recently revamped by KelsyAnne Schoenhaar, it is the story of Brodie, who works as a support provider for people with disabilities. His job is rewarding, frustrating, often chaotic, sometimes dangerous—and rarely appreciated. Brodie’s sister, Chloe, is one of the few people with a disability who doesn’t like him, and his mother won’t leave either of them alone. His band is the only thing that keeps him going ... until a chance meeting with an attractive nurse named Mary sends Brodie into a tailspin, just as he comes under the shadow of a serious accusation. All this ... and he’s about to turn 30! We are packing all this theatrical goodness into two weekends so make sure to reserve your tickets early!

The Gentlemen(April 13-April 28) is an all new original work written by KelsyAnne Schoenhaar, follows the compelling stories of 8 men. Narrated by female voices, the piece explores the strengths, the frailities and the complexities of these 8 men through different modes of theatrical expression. Based loosely on the individuals within the Encore company, we close our season and give the audience the chance to watch as lives unfold on the stage!

All three pieces will be directed by Executive Director Schoenhaar, Program Director Jessica Jane Witham and artistic associates Jon Meister, Wendy Prosise, and Moritz Burnard.
